Staying at the cozy, romantic 86 Cannon Historic Inn in Charleston, I actually found myself not wanting to leave in the morning! That is more than a little rare for me, but the welcoming inn was a key part of what made Charleston so charming.

A seriously romantic restaurant that’s well worth making a reservation at way ahead of time is the (slightly hidden) Chez Nous. The chef at this adorable neighborhood spot, located in a 19th-century home (no less), serves up a new menu every single day and only uses the freshest ingredients.

It’s definitely one of the best United States destinations to visit in the fall and the surrounding area is ideal for leaf-peeping!
Plan an epic adventure through southeastern New York, the Catskills, and the historical charms of Boston. The lovely small cities of the region are a few of my favorite cities in America that feel like Europe.
The only caveat: predicting when and where the autumn leaves will change is quite tricky, so if you’re planning your New England honeymoon purely to peep the leaves—it’s best to give yourself a bit of leeway.
Typically, you can expect the leaves to start changing between mid-September through October depending on the state.
