Your blog is excellent and brought back many wonderful memories of our two driving trips in S. Africa.

Hi Sharon! I’m so happy to hear that 🙂 Such a wonderful place!

+1 on De Zeekoe and the Meerkats. The restaurant at De Zeekoe is OK but the patio views at sunset are stunning.

We stopped at Swellendam – Augusta de Mist Country House (especially in the garden cottage) is highly recommended. Field and Fork for food also highly recommended.

In Knysna we opted for Villa Afrikana. The service from the staff was outstanding and the view over Knysna bay was one of the highlights of the trip. 34 South for food was good (never had a bad meal all the time I was in South Africa) but really, really busy.

Totally different area but if you are over that way Rissington Inn at Hazyview is another recommendation, both for food (Baked Steak was stunning) and accomodation.

Ever wondered what it’s like to visit Mars without leaving Earth? 🚀

Welcome to Wadi Rum, Jordan — the red desert wonderland that feels like another planet. 🌌

From racing through the dunes on a 4x4 tour, to sleeping under the stars in a Martian-style tent 🛖✨, to soaring over the landscape in a hot air balloon at sunrise 🎈— this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Add Wadi Rum to your bucket list — you won’t believe it’s real until you see it.

Back in Jordan for the fourth time, and it continues to inspire me just as much as it did on my first visit in 2012! 🐪

Jordan remains one of my all-time favorite destinations thanks to its incredible diversity and rich cultural experiences.

From exploring the ancient city of Petra and floating in the healing waters of the Dead Sea, to discovering the vibrant streets of Amman, sleeping under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert, and scuba diving in the crystal-clear Red Sea in Aqaba—every journey here offers something unforgettable.

One experience I always recommend (and can’t wait to do again) is canyoning the Siq Trail in Wadi Mujib.

There’s truly no place like Jordan. 🇯🇴✨
