  1. I have been to Istanbul 18 times and am looking forward to my next trip in a few weeks 🙂 I agree on not wearing heels, but for a different reason: There are so many steep streets and not all of them are in good condition. Flat shoes are a must!
As I go to dance a lot of tango at night in Istanbul, I often walk home after midnight. I have never had a problem (Beyoglu area).

Thank you Kiersten for the wonderful work,

I absolutely loved your blog. I work at a boutique hotel in Sultanahmet and we had a female guest just checked out this morning who read about us on your blog! (Hotel Emppress Zoe) I wanted to thank you for that. My husband is a chef and running a cooking school here. So next time you come you are very welcome to take a Turkish cooking class on the house!

    Safe travels,

    • That’s awesome! Thanks for sharing Leyla and I will definitely take you up on that on my next trip! xx

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
