Provence is one of my favorite regions in France! It’s home to a diverse range of landscapes that feature everything from vineyards to gorgeous lavender fields, and picturesque rivers that are hidden among the mountains.

I started my trip in Avignon and spent five days exploring the nearby cities and villages. If you only have time for one day trip, I recommend visiting the Lavender Fields in Provence. Head out to Valensole (just under two hours from Avignon) to find the famous Plateau de Valensole. Depending on the time of year that you visit, you will be able to catch them—the best time to see the fields is in June or July.

Another one of my favorite day trips was to Verdon du Gordge! It’s an iconic spot in Provence that boasts dramatic limestone cliffs and beautiful crystal clear water.

When I was planning my trip to Provence, the Gordes Village Market was at the top of my bucket list—and it didn’t disappoint. The farmer’s market happens every Tuesday morning, and you can buy everything from soap to clothes and an abundance of food and wine.

Gordes is also close to some of Provence’s other top attractions. You’ll be only a short drive away from Senanque Abbey and the beautiful town of Roussillon, which I recommend visiting as well!

We landed in Cape Town mid-January and hit the ground running.

Oliver and I packed up our life and moved abroad for a year — chasing a simple question: what’s the best that could happen?

My parents joined us for the first month — which meant extra hands, loving support, and the sweetest way to begin this chapter.

Between toddler sickness (IYKYK) and playing full-time tour guide, we somehow managed to squeeze in so much life.

A long weekend in Paternoster.
Glamping under the stars at Camp Canoe.
Summertime in the city.
Oliver starting at his new preschool.
Adventures through the Cape Winelands.
Slow weekends at the farmer’s market.
Afternoons stretched long at the beach.

It’s been messy and magical.
Exhausting and energizing.

Somewhere between pharmacy runs and beach swims, it started to feel less like a move…

and more like the start of our biggest adventure yet! 🌍

This was the year I stopped measuring life in miles traveled… and started measuring it in the days we weren’t promised.

Not in passport stamps.
Not in hotel check-ins.
Not in how far we could go.

But in the quiet relief of “clear.”
In small hands squeezing mine tighter.
In birthday candles and quiet camping mornings.
In laughter that came back after fear.

2025 was the plot twist year.

The year I learned strength doesn’t look like control —
it looks like surrender.
It looks like showing up anyway.
It looks like choosing joy even when you know how fragile it is.

And it looks like being surrounded by the people who love us most.

We traveled the world.
But more importantly —
we celebrated what we almost lost.

And at the end of it all?
We packed up our life and chose a new continent. 🇿🇦

2025, you were heavy.
You were also beautiful.
You changed me.

It all depends on how many of the destinations you want to visit and how much driving you want to do each day. If you’re a slow traveler, I think a week would be more than enough!
