  1. Honduras Trip

Great travel guide. Thank you very much for including the ethics of volunteering. Making sure that organizations are working with the local community in every level of a project/service is vital. Many orgs do cause more harm than help those communities. Also the suggestion of volunteering in one’s local community before volunteering internationally is awesome. Glad you are doing well. I was in the trip with you in Honduras.

    • The Blonde Abroad

Hey there! Thanks so much for the kind words and I hope you’re doing well 🙂 Volunteering and giving back to communities has always been very important to me and I definitely agree with your notes!

  2. Fiona

This was a very interesting article! I want to get into volunteering more on my free time, not only to benefit others, but my kids as well. I just read an article about the benefits of volunteering, and it just makes sense to do it. What do you think? Any suggestions on how to get started or where to get started?

    • The Blonde Abroad

Hey Fiona! I would say if you’re interested and looking to help — go for it! There are tons of ways to get involved in your local community, maybe look into animal shelters, homeless shelters, community groups or park clean ups and network from there 🙂

Ever wondered what it’s like to visit Mars without leaving Earth? 🚀

Welcome to Wadi Rum, Jordan — the red desert wonderland that feels like another planet. 🌌

From racing through the dunes on a 4x4 tour, to sleeping under the stars in a Martian-style tent 🛖✨, to soaring over the landscape in a hot air balloon at sunrise 🎈— this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Add Wadi Rum to your bucket list — you won’t believe it’s real until you see it.

Back in Jordan for the fourth time, and it continues to inspire me just as much as it did on my first visit in 2012! 🐪

Jordan remains one of my all-time favorite destinations thanks to its incredible diversity and rich cultural experiences.

From exploring the ancient city of Petra and floating in the healing waters of the Dead Sea, to discovering the vibrant streets of Amman, sleeping under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert, and scuba diving in the crystal-clear Red Sea in Aqaba—every journey here offers something unforgettable.

One experience I always recommend (and can’t wait to do again) is canyoning the Siq Trail in Wadi Mujib.

There’s truly no place like Jordan. 🇯🇴✨

I’ve stamped my passport in some pretty incredible places, but nothing has changed me the way motherhood has. Oliver, being your mama is the most beautiful, joy-filled adventure I’ve ever known—and the one I’m most grateful for. Happy Mother’s Day to the journey that matters most.
