    Dear the blonde abroad,
I couldn’t help but notice that you quit a career in finance to become a traveller. I have always wanted to become a traveller and have thought of various ways i could do that from being an air hostess to being a pilot to joining the army, nevertheless I can’t follow my dreams because my parents want me to pursue an academic career ( medical field) and to be very honest I would be le miserables ?

I am going to pursue my dreams but i need to know how to start, no i don’t mean starting the blog i mean starting the travel. I need to travel first to have something to blog about right? I already saved up all the money i would need to start a professional blog but since my parents are not in support i do not have to money to buy myself a plane ticket or a car (if i choose to start by road travels in my country) neither do I have the money to get a professional camera. I already have my subscriptions in my favourite photo editing apps and i am willing to go all the way to actulize this dream but how do i start? How did you go on your first trip? How was it? How did you pay for your first hotel? What do i do

Hey Stephanie! When starting a blog—it doesn’t have to be about travel. It can be about so many different things and I don’t blog exclusively about travel. So you can definitely start now. In terms of having things to blog about if you’re wanting to go the travel route — consider blogging about your hometown or areas around it. Be a tourist in your own city and state. Many folks that end up traveling there really value local knowledge and who better to provide that than someone who lives there?

As for how I began to travel — I saved up every penny I could! I took odd jobs here and there, cut down on my costs of other things (not buying coffee out, not buying new clothes, not getting my hair highlighted all the time — and those things add up). It’s about priorities and figuring out where your money goes. Hostels are a great way to travel cheaply, too. I don’t always stay at hotels. I hope that helps!

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
