  1. Thanks for your tips! What is ‘Western’ hair? I’m a Western woman and have black hair, like Koreans!

Hi Lara! I think what Wailana meant was that “Western” hair oftentimes has a different texture or isn’t as thick compared to typical Korean hair and can thus be different to work with or something the hairdressers are inexperienced with it! But you might very well have gorgeous hair they’re adapted to! 🙂

Thanks for the advice. I’m actually Korean – American and was wondering if you know of any other visa options? I’m a chef and speak enough Korean to get by. Any visa options you know of?

Hey Phillip! This was a contributor post from our Expat Travel Expert—Wailana. You may want to reach out to her. I’m not sure about visa options but there might be something else out there that will work for you. I would suggest reaching out to her or maybe finding an expat community in Seoul/Korea and seeing if they can point you in the right direction! I hope that helps 🙂

Spending a year abroad sounds exciting… until you see the planning involved.

Flights, edits, contracts, itineraries — not to mention the admin of being a mom. I’m usually running everything at once, so having a laptop that can keep up makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using an AMD Ryzen AI–powered laptop to keep everything organized, run AI tools even when WiFi isn’t available, and work from wherever we happen to be in the world.

So I can finish what I need to do… and get back to what’s most important ❤️
