Doesn’t Woolies (Woolworth’s) have many of the equivalents? We are possibly moving to Houts Bay, and can’t get to SA during the pandemic, but I recall at other places around SA that we saw lots of US style foodstuffs (if not the exact thing). Personally, I love what you can get in SA, although the processed foods tend towards sugary.

Separately, would love to have an update on living in CT during the pandemic.

Hey Knowa! I’m now in San Diego – we actually left Cape Town in the middle of March right as lockdowns were starting (we weren’t leaving because of the pandemic, that’s just how timing worked out). And it’s hard to say what Woolies will have. If there are specific things you can list off I might be able to recall but everybody is different in what they’re looking for!

CT and SD – not too dissimilar weather. Although SD is milder. In WY, we’re deep into winter. Spoke to someone in SA today, and still no access until at least the end of February (I suspect longer with the new variant). We can’t even get down to SoCal with the quarantine restrictions (having had a close friend die from COVID, I wouldn’t risk it anyways).
So, separately, do you fly through Europe to get to CT, and if yes, which airline(s)? We have usually flown to JNB (either direct or via Europe).

It’s such a weird time right now, I understand. As for flying to Cape Town, it really depends — sometimes we go from California to Paris then to Cape Town, but it really depends on what flights are available, and the travel time in terms of layovers.

Welcome to Wadi Rum, Jordan — the red desert wonderland that feels like another planet. 🌌

From racing through the dunes on a 4x4 tour, to sleeping under the stars in a Martian-style tent 🛖✨, to soaring over the landscape in a hot air balloon at sunrise 🎈— this is truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

Add Wadi Rum to your bucket list — you won’t believe it’s real until you see it.

Back in Jordan for the fourth time, and it continues to inspire me just as much as it did on my first visit in 2012! 🐪

Jordan remains one of my all-time favorite destinations thanks to its incredible diversity and rich cultural experiences.

From exploring the ancient city of Petra and floating in the healing waters of the Dead Sea, to discovering the vibrant streets of Amman, sleeping under the stars in the Wadi Rum desert, and scuba diving in the crystal-clear Red Sea in Aqaba—every journey here offers something unforgettable.

One experience I always recommend (and can’t wait to do again) is canyoning the Siq Trail in Wadi Mujib.

There’s truly no place like Jordan. 🇯🇴✨
