While jewelry takes up much less space in your bag, it could also mean that you’re packing more precious (and expensive!) cargo. No matter how careful you are, stones can become loose, hotels are not guaranteed safe places to leave jewelry, and a sandy beach can swallow up a jewel forever.

- Keep it with you. Put your jewelry in a favorite bag you’ll carry while traveling. Don’t leave your jewelry in an unattended car or suitcase. When checking into your hotel or condo, don’t hand your jewelry bag to hotel staff. Carry it personally.
- Use the safe. Always store jewelry in the in-room safe when you’re not wearing it.

I always bring lots of rings with me, because first off- I’m obsessed- but also they are the most tangle-resistant jewelry there is.
Secondly, I travel with chunky statement necklaces because they are less likely (although possbile) to get tangled into a giant ball of gold chain as smaller necklaces may.
Lastly, bangles are a girls best friend, so I always have simple gold and silver bangles in my jewelry bag in case I need to spice up an outfit in a hurry.

I agree that you should use a use a safe to store jewelry. I think doing so helps to decrease the likelihood of it getting stolen. I think it’s also good to keep your safe hidden so that guests don’t get even get the idea to steal it.
