  1. Hi Kiersten, your blog is beautiful, great job!

I’m Italian and I can confirm this post is very detailed and helpful.
Sometimes, the “coperto” really adds up, and it usually stands for “bread + restaurant service”, good you mentioned it… few travelers know it 🙂 Also, supermarkets are pretty cheap if you know where to go.

Next time you visit Italy, make sure to go to Cinque Terre if you haven’t already been… It’s just breathtaking!

    • Thank you Jessica! Supermarkets are definitely a cheaper option, and just as yummy! Happy travels!

  2. Megs

Some awesome tips here! I used to live in Italy, and my family was able to return for three weeks this summer. The only thing that I would say is that, even though it is more expensive to drink bottled water, it isn’t a good idea to drink the tap water. The Italian people don’t even drink the tap water, generally. To be honest, it may be no different from our water here in the States, but if the locals won’t drink it, that doesn’t make me feel too great about it… 😉 Even when we had supper at a friend’s house, we drank bottled water. The prices are very reasonable at the grocery stores, though, so as far as just having water with you, that makes it easier. Thanks for your post! Makes me even more excited to return!

    • Thanks so much for sharing Megs- great points! 🙂
