  1. YES to all of these, especially the part about reading the requirements. I’m sick of hearing people bitch and moan about hidden fees when they’re RIGHT THERE and people just don’t bother reading.

I’ve flown Ryanair and had no issues, although I wouldn’t use them if I were going out of London, as Stansted is a nightmare to get to. I won’t use EasyJet again, as they’ve been late EVERY single time I’ve used them, although the fares were cheap. Jet2.com is a good, cheap airline, and Wizzair were OK.

I personally use Momondo, as it has a more comprehensive selection of airlines included in the search results than Skyscanner and Kayak, in my experience.

    • Gah yes… Stansted is the worst. Totally agree on that. I’ll have to check out Momondo! Haven’t heard of it!

  2. I agree about reading the fine print, as well! I’d also add from way to much experience that budget airlines are not so budget friendly when you 1) bring too much luggage, as the checked baggage fees can be as much or more than the ticket, and 2) if you don’t book far enough in advance. However, if you do book months in advance you can get $1-$20 fares. Great post!

Spending a year abroad sounds exciting… until you see the planning involved.

Flights, edits, contracts, itineraries — not to mention the admin of being a mom. I’m usually running everything at once, so having a laptop that can keep up makes a huge difference.

I’ve been using an AMD Ryzen AI–powered laptop to keep everything organized, run AI tools even when WiFi isn’t available, and work from wherever we happen to be in the world.

So I can finish what I need to do… and get back to what’s most important ❤️
