  1. Kimberly

I have an Eleventh mistake to add.

Not being flexible in your plans.
Sometimes when traveling something will not go the way you think it will, and you need to be able to say, “that’s okay, I’ll consider this part of an adventure.”

For example, my first trip to Ireland and England, I had reserved a car in Dublin that I had planned to use for the entire three week trip, but was forced to change quite a bit of my plans because no one had informed me, you can’t transport a rented vehicle off the Island. Even when I arrived in England, I wasn’t able to rent a vehicle, as it was a busy tourist season, and none were available. I became friends with trains, tubes, buses, and taxi’s, and had an incredible adventure, with many more interesting stories!

    • Thank you for sharing Kimberly! Public transportation does make for very interesting stories in my experience 😉

  2. All great tips and as a solo traveler myself I would add one more — Set a rule for yourself about alcohol. Don’t drink too much because as a solo woman you need to keep your wits about you at all times. There is nobody to protect you but yourself.

My favorite smart features of my old home! 🏠

I put a lot of thought and design into my home, so I knew I had to get curated, high-tech window shades to match.

Enter @rollishades — sleek, custom motorized shades that actually elevate the space while solving the very real sunlight problem. From light-filtering to blackout options, everything is tailored to fit perfectly and controlled with the touch of a button (or app). It’s the kind of smart, intentional design that makes a home feel finished. 🪟🤍

I easily installed these in my guest bedroom and let me just say, when guests come over, they’re getting what feels like a hotel experience in my home (minus the room service).
